Bergen County "Alternate Route Program" Exam Announced: The staff at the Bergen County Police Academy announced the application period for candidates wishing to compete for a slot in the police academy through the "Alternate Route Program." This is a tremendous opportunity for those who desire a career in law enforcement. The process is EXTREMELY competitive and begins with the administration of a very competitive written exam (scored) on Monday, March 11, 2019, followed by a physical agility assessment (scored) on Wednesday, March 27, 2019, and an oral panel interview (scored) in April. To enter the Bergen County competitive process, interested candidates MUST attend a MANDATORY open-attendance meeting on either Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. or Monday, February 25, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. to obtain a formal application. Announcement (November 14, 2018): The NJ Transit Police Department has announced a competitive entry-level testing process. The  full announcement and the application process is available via PoliceApp.com/NJTransitPD with the application period starting on Monday, November 19th, 2018 at 9 a.m. (Only the first 1,000 applications are being accepted). The physical exam is set for the weekend of December 15th and 16th while the date for the written examination will be scheduled once the physical is completed (likely January 2019). Only those who pass the physical will be permitted to sit for the written examination.  Candidates can review the physical exam type at PT Test Info (Click Here). Candidates for NJ Transit often refer to the exam as one of the most challenging entry-level police exams being used in New Jersey.
