Bergen County “Alternate Route Program” Exam Announced: The staff at the Bergen County Police Academy announced the application period for candidates wishing to compete for a slot in the police academy through the “Alternate Route Program.” This is a tremendous opportunity for those who desire a career in law enforcement. The process is EXTREMELY competitive and begins with the administration of a very competitive written exam (scored) on Monday, March 11, 2019, followed by a physical agility assessment (scored) on Wednesday, March 27, 2019, and an oral panel interview (scored) in April.
To enter the Bergen County competitive process, interested candidates MUST attend a MANDATORY open-attendance meeting on either Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. or Monday, February 25, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. to obtain a formal application. The academy is then ONLY ACCEPTING the first 240 applications completed and returned starting Thursday, February 28th, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. at the academy.
