Why CCS Test Prep®?

CCS Test Prep® is the #1 exam preparation company in New Jersey and is focused on preparing NJ Parole Officer Recruit candidates for the New Jersey Civil Service Commission (NJCSC) Law Enforcement Examination (LEE). The NJCSC held the application period from June 1, 2019 to June 21, 2019. The testing for the title of Parole Officer Recruit coincided with the LEE cycle as was the practice in 2016. The company founder, Chief David A. Paprota, Ed.D., has over 27 years experience in successfully preparing candidates to achieve the highest scores in the state on the entry-level Law Enforcement Exam (LEE). Prepare to achieve a perfect score with CCS Test Prep®. Seminars were scheduled at convenient locations throughout New Jersey.

Candidates who registered for the CCS Test Prep® program were provided every advantage possible. Our two-day or three-evening seminars are packed with focused in-class instruction, testing, and a special binder full of materials that students take home to continue their studies. Furthermore, as a critical part of the program, students sit for a short Diagnostic Exam (Day 1), and then on the last day, a longer Final Exam. Both exams are computer-scored in class and each student is provided detailed, individualized scoring reports which identify the student’s strengths and weaknesses going into their home studies. A thorough in-class review of the Final Exam is used to reinforce the strategies and to also allow each student to identify any personal deficiencies.

The EXTRA Touch Toward Perfection

Beyond the paid seminar, Chief David A. Paprota, Ed.D. (Ret.) extended the extra, invaluable bonus of providing students access to the CCS Test Prep® Online Learning Platform for a 5-day period close to the student’s actual test date and time. This was a FREE bonus that was done to ensure a high level of confidence, knowledge, and understanding going into the actual test. Students had the opportunity to take dozens of automated short quizzes online which are instantly scored with answer guides for immediate feedback. These online quizzes and the focused reinforcement provided have proven invaluable to students. Perfection is not only possible but is expected with the CCS Test Prep® program.

Schedule of Classes

Over 20 separate CCS Test Prep® seminars for the NJ Parole Officer Recruit exam were completed at convenient locations throughout the state between August 10th and November 24th.

New Jersey Civil Service Testing

The Civil Service Application Period

The Parole Officer Recruit title is covered under a separate announcement and separate application process from the NJ LEE. The application period opened June 1, 2019 and closed June 21, 2019. New Jersey implemented a new system for the scheduling of candidates for the exam. Candidates who applied with the NJCSC for the actual exam had the opportunity to select (based on availability) a test date, time, and location from a long list of options provided through an online SignUpGenius portal. This meant that candidates were able to choose a test date throughout the testing cycle that best matched up with their comfort level from the date on which they attended this prep program. The actual testing schedule was established as November 2nd, 9th, 16th, and 23rd as well as December 7th and 14th at the following  Bergen, Passaic, Hudson, Essex, Union, Middlesex, Ocean, Mercer, Camden, and Atlantic/Cape County Colleges.

Choosing a Date to Attend the Prep Course

Most candidates selected the earliest available course dates to provide more time for study before the exam. I have developed a system of very focused review to take students up to the time of the their actual exam, so earlier prep was recommended and beneficial. Likewise, candidates were able to choose whether they wanted to attend two days of prep back-to-back or choose a course option that has days or even more than a week between in-class sessions. That is a personal preference. The course offerings closed out and were removed from the schedule as they filled up, so EARLY REGISTRATION to reserve a seat in the perfect class was recommended.

The LEE is a very important exam, as it includes varied law enforcement titles and has only been administered once every three years. It will likely not be administered again until late 2022 or later. In addition to being used as the Parole Officer Recruit exam, the titles covered by the exam include: Municipal Police Officer, Campus Police Officer Recruit, County Police Officer, Park Police Officer, Police Officer Recruit Human Services, Police Officer Palisades Interstate Park, Sheriff’s Officer, County Correction Officer, and State Correction Officer Recruit Juvenile Justice. Well over 30,000 candidates will sit for the 2019 LEE later this year. Candidates must achieve exceptional test scores in order to be among the top candidates eligible to be considered for openings during the 3-year list. The Parole Officer Recruit pool of applicants is even more competitive with many candidates achieving exceptional scores. Proper preparation is critical when taking this very competitive exam!

The State of New Jersey continues to utilize the PSI testing company as the vendor to write and administer the NJ Parole Officer Recruit (NJ LEE) exam. The specific exam utilized is the Law Enforcement Aptitude Battery (LEAB-II™) which is a multi-factor psychometric test that has proven to be the most comprehensive, valid, and reliable entry-level law enforcement exam available nationally. This is the exact exam which served as the basis of much of Chief Paprota’s doctoral research.

In 2016, New Jersey candidates were administered a new and expanded exam. The new exam had additional dimensions/factors and scales not utilized in the past.  Proper, on point, preparation is more important than ever in the very competitive process.

The testing jurisdictions included but were not limited to the following: New York State Police; Norfolk, Virginia; Pennsylvania State Police; Delaware State Police; Wilmington (DE) Police Department, Oklahoma City (OK) Police Department, and the Massachusetts State Police and state-wide testing pool. In each instance, CCS Test Prep® students absolutely dominated by achieving top 1% scores with all candidates moving on to the first round of the respective hiring processes. There is no doubt that CCS Test Prep® students’ results will dominate in the State of New Jersey for the upcoming LEE cycle.
