Pennsylvania State Police Cadet Entry-Level (Trooper) Exam Prep The Pennsylvania State Police have been accepting online applications via the state police website at PSP Application. The exam is a computer-based version of the Law Enforcement Aptitude Battery (LEAB) which includes a 2 hour and 30 minute time limit for a combined 158 questions. The Pennsylvania State Police entry-level written assessment is actually developed by a private vendor contracted by the Pennsylvania State Civil Service Commission (SCSC). The EB Jacobs company, as contracted by the State of Pennsylvania, has produced the Law Enforcement Aptitude Battery (LEAB). The LEAB is a 3-part assessment consisting of a 48 question Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT), 66 statement Work Styles Questionnaire (WSQ), and a 44 question Life Experience Survey (LES). UPDATE (June 4, 2018) - The current New Jersey entry-level police officer written-testing opportunities with application periods open at this time include three municipal police departments with more expected to announce in the days and weeks to come. The Morris County Alternate Route Program will open the application period on June 25th, 2018, while the three police departments: Old Bridge Township (Middlesex County); Bridgewater Township Police Department (Somerset County); and the Toms River Police Department (Ocean County) all have open application periods at this time. Most of the testing opportunities will involve the use of either the IOS NCJOSI v1 (90 min) exam or the IOS NCJOSI v2 (2.5 hour) exam as administered by the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police (NJSACOP), while occasionally, a department will choose to use a different test vendor.
