Camden County College Police Academy “Alternate Route Program” Exam Application Period has Begun for the September 8, 2018 Exam – CCS Test Prep®

Test Prep Announcement (Camden County Alternate Route): Candidates interested in preparing for the very competitive September of 2018 Camden County College Police Academy “Alternate Route” written examination may contact CCS Test Prep through the CCS website at this link: Exam Prep for Camden County Alternate Route. The application period for the competitive “alternate route” process for attending the Camden County College Police Academy is NOW OPEN and will close on August 27th, 2018. Applications for the process must be submitted through PoliceApp.com at Camden County College Alternate Route Application.

This is a synopsis of the important dates released by the Camden County College Police Academy regarding the competitive process:

CAMDEN COUNTY COLLEGE POLICE ACADEMY

Registration will close Monday, August 27, 2018 OR when the maximum number of 160 applications have been received.

ALTERNATE ROUTE BASIC COURSE FOR POLICE OFFICERS

The written examination will be held Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 9 AM at the Camden County College Regional Emergency Training Center. The physical ability test is scheduled for Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 8 AM on the main campus of the Camden County College. For those who progress in the process, the formal interviews are scheduled for Monday, October 29th and Tuesday, October 30th, 2018.

What is the Alternate Route Basic Course for Police Officers?

This program was designed to give individuals interested in becoming police officers, the opportunity to attend a police training academy at their own expense, prior to being hired by a police department.

Although successful completion of the program does not assure a participant a position in law enforcement, graduates will have received training from a certified police academy, and are able to pursue employment as a certified police officer.

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

In order to qualify for entrance into the Camden County College Police Academy Alternate Route Program, candidates MUST:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and not over 35 at the completion of the program (for municipal police officers).

  • Must be at least 18 years of age (for Sheriff’s Officers and College Campus Police Officers).

  • Must have completed 60 college credits or 2 years of active military service or 1 year of active military service and 30 college credits. A copy of your DD214 Form must be supplied as proof of military service.

    Must be a citizen of the United States.

  • Must be a resident of the State of New Jersey

  • Must be of good moral character and not convicted of any criminal offense.

  • Must be able to read, write and speak the English language well and intelligently

  • Must be in good health, sound physical condition and able to participate in a rigorous physical training program.

  • Must have a valid, unrestricted New Jersey Driver License

  • Must have medical insurance. A copy of your insurance card is required as proof of coverage.

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE ALTERNATE ROUTE PROGRAM

Applications will only be accepted through PoliceApp.com. The Non-Refundable registration fee to apply for the Alternate Route Program is $120.00. Only the first 160 applications will be accepted.

Any candidate who wants a study guide from the police academy for the written exam may purchase one Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:00 am-2:30 pm directly from the academy. They are charging $20.00 for the guide and the payment to the academy must be in the form of money order or cashier’s check. Study guides may be picked up at 420 North Woodbury-Turnersville Road, Blackwood, NJ.

ACADEMY SPECIAL INFORMATION SESSION

The academy staff will be holding an Information Session on Saturday, July 14th, 2018 for interested candidates.

Selection Process Overview

  1. The Written Test will be administered at the Camden County College Regional Emergency Training Center on Saturday, September 8, 2018. Candidates must be in line by 9:00 am.

  2. The Top 30 highest scores on the Written Test will continue in the Selection Process. After the results are tabulated, you will be advised of your score and your eligible status. A passing score will qualify you to continue on to the Physical Ability Test.

  3. Formal Applications will be distributed by email after the Written Test and must be returned at the Physical Ability Test site, during check-in.

  4. The Physical Ability Test will be administered at the Camden County College (main campus) on Saturday, October 6, 2018. Candidates must be in line by 8:00 am.

  5. A Medical Certification signed by your Physician is required to participate in the Physical Ability Test. The test consists of five (5) pass/fail events. Candidates who pass all five events of the test will be eligible to advance and may be offered the opportunity to participate in the Oral Interview Phase of the Selection Process.

  6. The Oral Interviews will be conducted at the Camden County College Police Academy on Monday, October 29th, 2018 or Tuesday, October 30th, 2018.

  7. Preliminary Ranking will be released on or about Friday, November 2, 2018. The Preliminary Ranking is based on the results of each candidate’s performance on the Written Test, Physical Ability Test and Oral Interview.

  8. Candidates on the Preliminary Ranking List will be selected as needed to participate in the Psychological Examination and Background Investigation Phases.

  9. Only those candidates who successfully complete all of these phases will receive a Final Ranking and will be considered for appointment into the Basic Course for Police Officer.

  10. The next Basic Class for Police Officer Class from this selection process will begin in January of 2019.
