The Pennsylvania State Police entry-level cadet written assessment is actually developed by a private vendor contracted by the State of Pennsylvania. The PSI (EB Jacobs) company, as contracted by the State of Pennsylvania, has produced the Law Enforcement Aptitude Battery (LEAB). This version of the LEAB is a 3-part assessment which is administered with a 2 hour and 30 minute time limit. The 3 distinct parts of the LEAB include the following: Part 1 – Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT) consisting of 30 questions; Part 2 – Work Styles Questionnaire (WSQ) consisting of 66 to 135 trait assessment statements; and Part 3 – Life Experience Survey (LES) consisting of 44 to 75 questions. The Pennsylvania State Police are utilizing the computer-based version of the LEAB. Candidates must achieve a high composite score on the examination to be included in a hiring process.

The CCS Test Prep® Program is a very focused training course during which Chief David A. Paprota, Ed.D. (Ret.) mails each student a comprehensive binder of instructional and practice materials, then works with students using an online platform for the 20 days leading up to the actual exam. Along with videos and instructional lessons, students have the ability to complete online practice quizzes which are instantly scored and include answer guides to ensure maximum retention and understanding. This focused approach has proven to be far superior to in-class lectures and has produced exceptional results.
